What this means is that the end user updates website content by editing the webpage in the context of how they would normally see it. There is no backend admin area as such because the CMS functionality layers over and augments the actual web pages that are being modified. Microcyte achieves this functionality through extensive use of javascript on the client browser and use of PHP to manipulate the site xHTML files on the server. Microcyte works by directly modifying the sites xHTML compliant webpages and can thus be likened to a system such as Adobe Contribute or Dreamweaver templates. Microcyte differs from contribute in that it is totally web based and requires no third party software apart from the users web browser. In addition Microcyte provides features for uploading and managing images and media and advanced site structure and navigation management.
